"GOING BEYOND"

The PMGA Family Convention is truly a one-of-a-kind event you won't want to miss.  Whether you have PMG, are a family member or friend of someone diagnosed with PMG, a caretaker, medical professional or researcher- those of us at PMG Awareness Organization are planning an enriching and unforgettable experience at this convention.  It is an event that will reinforce that we don't have to navigate this journey alone and we should all consider ourselves as one family, always and forever! 

A diagnosis of PMG can feel overwhelming, frightening and limiting. Many who are diagnosed are first told what they "can't" or "won't" be able to do. Yet we know that many people with PMG will far exceed those early expectations. They are the pilots of their own lives, and we are their copilots helping them along the way. The theme of the 2024 convention, "Going Beyond" is a reminder that PMG Warriors are more than a diagnosis and a label. Going beyond literally means "To be more than or not limited to something. To give extra effort, usually in a way that exceeds what is expected. To exceed." This convention will not only be educational, and provide opportunities for connection, but it will also be a way for us to celebrate the BIG and little ways those living with PMG go beyond every single day! 

The goal of the PMG Convention is to focus on those living with PMG and their families- to let them know that they are not alone, provide support and encourage them to continue pushing forward.  Everyone will have the opportunity to interact with others on similar journeys, to share stories and resources, and most importantly, develop lifelong friendships.  Attendees will come away with a renewed sense of belonging and a stronger connection to the PMG community. In short, the PMG Convention is nothing short of life changing!

We will have an exciting fleet of speakers that will be presenting on a variety of topics to help provide you with more tools and resources to go beyond the symptoms of PMG and build a fulfilling and purposeful life.  Thursday evening, we will launch our convention with registration where you will receive all the information for the weekend ahead. Friday will be a day focusing on the well-being of the family unit as a whole and Saturday will be geared towards the medical aspects of PMG and all of its related parts.  Before we depart, we will conclude with our celebratory dinner reception/party on Saturday evening with amazing food and entertainment! RSVP will be required for the dinner.

Back by popular demand, we will provide times during the event for our heartwarming "PMG Journeys."  This is an opportunity for individuals/families to share their PMG story with the group.   Owning our own story, loving ourselves through the process and sharing how it has impacted our lives allows us to be vulnerable and can provide an overwhelming sense of relief.  Many benefits come from admitting what we sometimes fear the most.  Stories create community and enable us to see through the eyes of others.  We hope that you will step out of your comfort zone and allow yourself to be seen and heard.  You will be able to sign up to share your story during the registration process if you feel called to do so.  

We hope you can spend the weekend with us and other PMG families in beautiful Ohio.  PMGA's goal is to create a very memorable event for everyone, and we look forward to seeing each and every one of you. We guarantee this weekend will go beyond your expectations!
